Friday Favorites: A Mountain Getaway

imageWe are already one week into 2016!

I’m still getting used to writing 16 instead of 15… oh well, I’m really liking 2016 so far!!

One week in, and the highlight of 2016 so far has been celebrating our Anniversary 🙂

So, of course this Friday’s Favorite is all about our getaway to the mountains this past weekend.

The mountains are always so breathtaking!! I love seeing them on my drive to work, but its even better getting to see them up close!

imageOne of my absolute favorite thing about being on vacation is resting and sleeping in; on our trip we thoroughly enjoyed lazy mornings!!

We are both big coffee coffee fans, so it was a treat to have our days started off with coffee dates.

AND we had our fair share of treats. YUM!! We found this amazing little french bakery and the treats were to die for. It was so hard to decide what to choose!image

We went on a few fancy dinner dates, and left completely stuffed. I love the chance to get to dress up!

We even braved the cold one of the days to enjoy the mountains, the outdoors, and see some ice sculptures. The ice castle was so neat 🙂 and we attempted to sit on the ice throne, but just kept slipping off!!

For some reason we thought the weather was going to be ‘nice’. Nope. It was freezing. We had to keep taking breaks to go inside out of the cold to warm up, and we eventually got hot chocolate to sip on in the hopes it would warm us up a bit. By the end of the day my husband had transferred all of his extra layers of clothes to me, he is THE BEST. But I’ve learned my lesson, next time more layers!! Despite the cold we had so much fun walking around and taking in the beauty of the mountains.

Such a great start to 2016 🙂

Happy Friday!

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: DIY Peppermint Chocolate Coffee Creamer

imageThe count down continues!!

3 days to go!!!

I don’t know about you but an absolute favorite treat for me are the specialty coffee drinks that come out around Christmas time.

My all time favorite: The Peppermint Mocha.

Going out and buying these Christmas coffees can start to add up… so, here is a simple DIY Peppermint Chocolate Coffee Creamer that makes it possible to have your very own at home Peppermint Mocha!!

Here is what you need to make the Coffee Creamer:

  • 1 cup of Milk (use whatever you have at home)
  • 1 can of Sweeten Condensed milk
  • 2 heaping tbsps of Cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp of peppermint favoring

All you  need to do is pour everything into a bowl and whisk it all together. Simple!!

You will REALLY need to whisk to get the cocoa powder incorporated, so give it some time.

Once your creamer is all done, its time to make a Peppermint Mocha! All you need now is to put DIY creamer into a cup of coffee… and add some toppings to make it extra festive 🙂

YUM!!! This is so good! I was really impressed by just how chocolaty and sweet this creamer is… and with just the right amount of peppermint 🙂

Its highly likely that I will be making this coffee creamer ever AFTER Christmas has passed!! It is so good!!!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Count Down: Bring on the Festivities

imageHappy Monday!!

Well, it’s Christmas week!

And there are only 4 days to go until Christmas!!

And the festivities are in full swing 🙂 I think that may be why December is just flying by! I can’t believe how quickly this season has gone!

Of course my Elf on the Shelf has been sneaking in the last few dates and treats before Christmas!!

My husband and I have been powering through Christmas Cards… I think next year we are going to start this process earlier!!

… And of course there has been baking…

… and more baking… and even some cookie decorating…YUM!

Look at those cute little fingers, getting ready to cookie decorate!! My nephew loved this, especially the taste testing part!!

I even started packing for our trip out to Saskatchewan for Christmas. I am the slowest packer there is, so getting the packing process started this past weekend is a much better idea than staying up past midnight on the 23rd! image

With all the glitter, fun, excitement, and busyness, I love quiet evenings with my husband where we can rest, watch the tree lights, and be reminded that this advent season is about the wonder, excitement, and celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas!!
