A Sweet Treat For Your Tuesday: Campfire Cones

Well. It’s summer time!! YAY!!

Which means camping… or atleast campfires!

And in my books campfires = s’mores

This year for our camping trip we decided to try something a bit different when in came to the s’mores.

About a month or two ago my husband showed me a picture of these icecream cones stuffed with chocolate and marshmallows, and that idea stuck in my head so I decided to give it a try!

Here’s what you need:

  • Icecream cones (I went for waffle cones because they are way better than plain cones πŸ™‚ )
  • Chocolate of your choice
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Any other fun fillings
  • Tinfoil

You can make so many different types of these campfire cones. I made four different kinds: reeses cups, oreo, m&m, and classic s’more.

It’s super simple. Take one waffle cone add in the fillings you would like… marshmallows, chocolate, etc. Then wrap the cone up with tinfoil! Done!

Take your pre-wrapped cones with you camping and set them on the grill of a fire pit for 5ish minutes (or until the marshmallows and chocolate are melted). And enjoy!!!

Yum!! These are a great twist on the classic s’more πŸ™‚ And not to mention a whole lot less sticky to eat!

Happy Tuesday!

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: French Vanilla Coffee Creamer

imageIt’s Tuesday!! Does anyone else lose track of the days between Christmas and New Years?

Around here Tuesday normally means some sort of cookies, cake or treat.

Well… we currently have an abundance of baked goodies around our home! And on-top of that we have atleast 6 boxes of chocolates…which means… there is no need to add to all the desserts, considering how many we already have… so instead I’m sharing this super simpleΒ  DIY Vanilla Coffee Creamer to sweeten up your morning coffee.

With vacation days between Christmas and New Years, I love to take an extra few minutes to enjoy a good cup of coffee. And I am a huge fan of these DIY coffee creamers!

I made some peppermint chocolate coffee creamer just before Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed it; drinking every last drop! So, its time for some more!! And why not go for classic vanilla?!

This recipe is by far the simplest out of the other DIY coffee creamers I’ve shared… and tastes amazing!

Here’s how you make this French Vanilla Creamer:

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: Christmas Oreo Truffles

imageHappy first of December!!

December is a month full of baking with Christmas and all of the holiday get togethers!

These Christmas Oreo Truffles are simple dessert idea.

And no bake at that!

I shared a similar Thanksgiving dessert, and this is the same idea, minus the pumpkin πŸ™‚

All you need is:

  • a box of Oreos
  • half a block of Cream cheese
  • a bag of chocolate chips

Starting with the Oreos. Put them into a food processor and blend until the cookies become crumbs.

Then mix in your cream cheese (half the package) and roll the dough into balls.

Pop them into the freezer for 20-30 minutes, so they are easier to dip into chocolate. And in the meantime start melting your chocolate chips!!

You can use milk, dark or white chocolate for dipping, and even make your truffles fancy by topping them off with sprinkles, candy canes or a different time of chocolate drizzle!

These truffles make a delicious and easy Christmas treat! Believe me they will disappear quick!!

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: Banana Cake with Brown Butter Icing

imageThis banana cake is T.H.E B.E.S.T.

And topped with brown butter icing.

Potentially this is one of my favorite desserts.

The first time I made this cake, I was shocked that is was soooo good. I was expecting basically banana bread with icing. Nope, this cake is in a whole different league than banana bread.

My husband and I will literally eat the whole cake ourselves in the span of a week. And the best part is that the it is super moist and amazing on day 7 just like it is day 1 when I pulled it out of the oven.

You can find the recipe I used here. Its a super simple recipe. No sifting flour or doing anything crazy. Just measure, mix, pour, and bake!

Start by creaming your butter and sugar, add your sour cream, eggs and vanilla and then mix in the mashed bananas.

Next, mix in your dry ingredients, flour and baking soda.

Once everything is mixed together, pour into your pan and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit until golden brown. (I found that mine take a bit longer to bake than the recipe time, closer to 30 minutes)

And while you wait you can make the brown butter icing!

Brown the butter in a pan, and whisk in the icing sugar, vanilla, and milk.

SO good!!

Make sure to ice your cake while its still a bit warm, that way the icing is easier spread and you get that perfectly even layer.

The perfect treat! I think I’ll go have another piece right now!!

Happy Baking πŸ™‚

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcakes

imageTime for a treat!

I almost feel like I should start making Christmas treats!!

Yesterday morning I opened my front door to a fresh blanket of snow!! And after a week in the picturesque mountains, I am feeling in the Christmas spirit!!

These treats are not quite Christmas-y…. I’ll hold off on that for 20 more days πŸ˜‰ … but they are still super good!!

I love cupcakes of any kind and these treats are a mix of cupcake and cheesecake because of the delicious cream cheese swirl. Yum!!

The perfect chocolaty and creamy combination!!

You can find the recipe here.

This recipe is not tough at all. 1. Start by making your chocolate cake batter (yes, the vinegar in the recipe is correct, weird I know) and fill your cupcake liners half full. 2. Make the ‘cheesecake’ concoction and top of the other half of the cupcake liners.

I tried to swirl the two layers to get them a bit more combined since my chocolate batter turned out a bit thick. In the end it all worked out πŸ™‚

These are so tasty!! Especially right out of the oven!
