A Sweet Treat For Your Tuesday: Healthier Peanut Butter Milkshake

imageTuesday treat time!!

I figured since its the start of a new year lots of people are trying to keep up new resolutions… maybe resolutions to cut back on sugar, or be heathier…

So, here’s a ‘healthier’ Peanut Butter Milkshake. That means, no icecream… BUT, don’t worry, it still tastes really good 🙂

This is a super simple milkshake, you probably have all the ingredients in your home already.

Healthier Peanut Butter Milkshake

Throw all of your ingredients into the blender and give it a good bend, until there are no more chunks.

If you are a big fan of peanut butter, you can add more than just 2 tbsp. If you add 1/4 cup it will REALLY taste like peanut butter!! Any kind of peanut butter works, both the natural and the sugary 🙂

image

This is a single serving, but you can double or triple the recipe if there is more than one person who would like to enjoy a milkshake!

I like to add a swirl of whip cream on top to make it feel like a real milkshake!!

Mmmmmm!! So good!!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: DIY Peppermint Chocolate Coffee Creamer

imageThe count down continues!!

3 days to go!!!

I don’t know about you but an absolute favorite treat for me are the specialty coffee drinks that come out around Christmas time.

My all time favorite: The Peppermint Mocha.

Going out and buying these Christmas coffees can start to add up… so, here is a simple DIY Peppermint Chocolate Coffee Creamer that makes it possible to have your very own at home Peppermint Mocha!!

image

Here is what you need to make the Coffee Creamer:

  • 1 cup of Milk (use whatever you have at home)
  • 1 can of Sweeten Condensed milk
  • 2 heaping tbsps of Cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp of peppermint favoring

image

All you  need to do is pour everything into a bowl and whisk it all together. Simple!!

image

You will REALLY need to whisk to get the cocoa powder incorporated, so give it some time.

Once your creamer is all done, its time to make a Peppermint Mocha! All you need now is to put DIY creamer into a cup of coffee… and add some toppings to make it extra festive 🙂

YUM!!! This is so good! I was really impressed by just how chocolaty and sweet this creamer is… and with just the right amount of peppermint 🙂

image

Its highly likely that I will be making this coffee creamer ever AFTER Christmas has passed!! It is so good!!!

Christmas Decor: Deer Head Pallet Mount

imageEight days to go!!

Last night we got our last Christmas decorations up… we put our Christmas tree up back in November, but we’ve been working on the decorations for our fireplace for what has felt like forever!!

About a month ago we came across this fantastic fake deer head, which I thought would be perfect for over our fireplace! My husband was shocked that I would even consider a deer head decoration, he keeps teasing me that his farm ways are rubbing off on me.

All that to say… we bought the deer head… and that is were the work/trouble started.

image

We didn’t want to drill a nail into the fireplace so the solution was of course: a pallet project!!! We could mount the deer head on a pallet that would work as a backboard. And I have ALWAYS wanted to do some sort of pallet project, especially one of the beautiful pallet signs. So I figured this would be a simple first project to try out.

image

Well… let me tell you this is the first and last pallet project I will be participating in.

Never again.

There where splinters, cuts, nails that wouldn’t hammer in, sweat… and tears. Who knew wood was so strong and uncooperative.

In the end my husband saved the day, and covered the many bent nails, hammer marks, and the other mistakes. Basically my contributed to this project was paint… haha!

image

I’m actually shocked that the pallet backboard turned out looking normal! And its really all because my husband is THE BEST!!

Despite all the hassle, I am super please with the final product 🙂 It looks so Christmasy and exactly how I imagined it!!

Now it’s time to sit back, rest, and enjoy …and of course count down the last few days!!

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: Eggnog Dessert Loaf

imageWhen I think of Christmas favors I think of gingerbread, cinnamon, cranberry, nutmeg… and eggnog.

Now, I am not the hugest eggnog fan, the whole ‘egg’ part of eggnog is a bit gross to me. But I like the way it tastes, so I try not to think about it! Aaaaaand, my husband loves eggnog 🙂 So of course that means my holiday baking includes some eggnog recipes.

This Eggnog Dessert Loaf is SUPER good …and that is coming from a tentative eggnog drinker.

You can find the recipe I used here.

This Dessert Loaf is just like any other ‘quick bread’, so think banana bread, pumpkin bread, etc. Which makes it a simple and easy recipe to bake!

Start by mixing your ‘wet’ ingredients together (except the eggnog). In a separate bowl mix your ‘dry’ ingredients. Then add your ‘dry mixture’ and eggnog into the ‘wet’ mixture, taking turns adding in portions of dry ingredients and eggnog.

image

Pour the batter into a loaf pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour. You will start to smell the amazing aroma as your loaf starts to bake!!

While you are waiting, mix up the eggnog glaze.

image

Once the dessert loaf has mostly cooled add the eggnog glaze and a sprinkle of nutmeg ontop. Wait a few minutes for the glaze to harden before cutting pieces.

image

Mmmmmmm!! So yummy!! Tastes like Christmas!!

image

This Eggnog Dessert Loaf is perfect for any eggnog lovers out there 🙂

Now, all I need is a cup of coffee and another slice of this loaf!!

A Sweet Treat for Your Tuesday: Ginger Snaps

imageHappy Tuesday!!!

Time for a sweet treat!!! And this is one of my all time favorites!!

Ginger Snaps!! The perfect Christmas cookie 🙂

However, I like my Ginger Snaps without an actual ‘snap’, aka a soft chewy cookie rather than crunch.

This recipe is one my family has been using forever. This was one recipe I copied down for my own recipe book when I got married because it is a winner 🙂

Here is my recipe:

Ginger Snaps

These are a generally easy cookie, which I love!! And I have yet for them to turn out anything but amazing 🙂

image

You can leave these ginger snaps plain and enjoy them as is 🙂

image

OR add a drizzling of white chocolate to make them even more delicious!!! image

Happy baking!
