Another Valentine’s Day come and gone.
It was too fun with this weekend not only being Valentines day…
…But also a long weekend! YAY!
Which was THE BEST!!
That means the celebrations start early and last the entire weekend.
So, here is Valentine’s/Family Day weekend according to my camera roll 🙂
Friday after work my husband brought home these beautiful roses ❤ And then we settled in for a movie night and some heart shaped pizzas.
Saturday we headed out for brunch with my parents, the food was too good, which means there wasn’t a chance for pictures before we gobbled it all down.
Sunday. Valentine’s Day started with breakfast in bed made by my husband 🙂 Crepes and fresh berries.
It has been really nice considering its February, so we tried to fit in a bit of a walk in the afternoon… which didn’t last all that long because of the wind. So, we ended up at the mall and bought a few chocolates as a treat, and some yummy tea.
Sunday night = Date night. We got all dressed up and headed to our absolute favorite restaurant.
…Which meant pizza again… because you can never have too much!! And of course some ‘valentines’ cheesecake to end the meal.
And today has been this: Rest. Chocolate macaroon tea (SO good). And an attempt at cross stitching… I’ll let you know how it goes.
I always love long weekends because of the extra day to sleep, rest, do nothing, or attempt new hobbies 🙂
With Valentine’s Day getting closer (basically a week away!) I’ve slowly been adding a few more Valentine’s Day decorations to our home.
So… obviously this week’s ‘Friday Favorites’ is once again Valentine’s themed.
I’m trying to find the right balance between some subtly Valentine’s decoration and an explosion of pink, red, and hearts everywhere. It is tough to find the balance when you are a lover of pink (which I am)… but I’m trying to be kind to my husband and tone it down as much as possible 😉
Here’s a peak at a few of my decorations.
I love cookies. I love donuts. I love donut shaped cookies!!
Here is a simple sugar cookie recipe that does not require any ‘chilling’.
YAY for quick and easy cookies that taste amazing!
A good sugar cookie recipe is a MUST, you can use it for everything, Christmas, Valentine’s day, or any occasion that requires some cookie decorating!
You know its a good recipe when you try yummy cookies and ask for the recipe! That’s how I got this one! Turns this is the sugar cookie recipe off of the back of the Wilton cookie cutters! It’s a winner of a recipe 🙂
These classic cookies have all your regular ingredients, sugar, flour, butter, 1 egg, etc.
Here’s the recipe:
Mix all of your ingredients according to the recipe, roll your dough and cut out the cookies.
You could choose any shape for your cookies, hearts, circles, stars, anything! I went with donut shape 🙂 And I think they turned out pretty cute!
With a little bit of icing, a few sprinkles you have yourself some donut cookies!!
The perfect snack 🙂
Fridayyyyyyyyyyyy!! YAY for weekends 🙂 They never get old!
Here is my week according to my camera roll. Pictures are always more interesting!
On the weekend we got together with some friends that were in town, and went out for lunch… and dessert. It was fun to catch up and hear all about their wedding plans. … Then there was this cake. This cake was AMAZING. My husband and I attempted to share… but basically we both were trying to inhale as much of the the icing as possible before the other person. I could have just eaten a bowl of the icing. Seriously it was the best!!
Between teaching a spin class on the weekend, and going to a bootcamp class, put on my our Church, my workouts looked a bit different than usual this week but super fun. Its nice to have a change!
The weather has been beautiful… for winter. So we took advantage of the slight warmth and went for a walk one evening. Going for walks is one of my favorite things, I’m looking forward to the summer and the nice warm evenings we will have!
I have been eating my fair share of nuts and fruits and these bars, which are made of dates, nuts, and other yummy healthy things! We’ve been doing our best to have more fruits and veggies in our meals, and make healthy choices when it comes to snacks… but of course we still have treats here and there 🙂
And last but not least, I have been flipping through cookbooks and looking through pinterest for great Valentine’s treats!! There are too many good options to choose from! Get ready for some more Valentine’s Day posts in these next few weeks 🙂
Mmmmmmmm 🙂 Anyone else a big fan of Nutella?!
Well I sure am, especially if its part of a simple and easy-to-bake dessert!!
These Nutella Pocket Pies are made with of 3 ingredients: Nutella, pie crust, and a handful of chocolate chips.
So simple and so good!
Here’s how to make these tasty treats – Cut out the pie dough into whatever shape you’d like: circle, square, heart, anything!
Put a scoop of Nutella on one of the cutouts, wet the edges and top with a second piece of pie crust, and then press down the edges.
Bake at 350 Fahrenheit for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
These mini pies are flaky with that Nutella-goodness in the center!
And you know what makes them even better ?? A drizzle of chocolate! Melt a few chocolate chips and give the pastries a final topping of drizzled chocolate.
YUM!! These are SO good. We may have had them as part of our Saturday morning breakfast/brunch… but its ok because Nutella is a breakfast food right?!?
The perfect treat for any Nutella craving!
