Friday Favorites: Beauty Essentials

Friday Favorites_ Beauty Essentials

What’s in your makeup bag?!

This ‘Friday’s Favorites’ I am sharing what’s in mine!

Over the years I’ve tried and tested so so so many different hair and makeup products.

Some are great, and some… well, not so great.

Here are some of my go-to items when it comes to getting ready in the morning, ones that I LOVE and use basically every day.

image

First things first. Hair. This is where I have probably tried the most products. And now I’ve settled on Dove hairspray and Batiste dry Shampoo.

image

I have been using this Dove Hairspray for quite a while, why switch when you find one that works! But I just came across this Batiste Dry Shampoo about 6 months ago when I was testing out a few different brands to find one I like. And this one is a winner! It gives the prefect amount of volume, and I find it also helps my hair-do stay throughout the day.

After one try of this stuff, I was hooked.

Eventually, I used up my first can of this dry shampoo, and went back to the store for more but couldn’t find it anywhere! One of the employees told me they were discontinuing it. WHAT?!? Nooooooo. Just when I found one that I really liked! …Turns out that was totally not true… which I didn’t find out until after buying basically a lifetime supply of the stuff when I found it at another store…. oh well, I’ll use it up, believe me!

imageEyes.

I have been using this False Lashes MAC mascara since my wedding, about 2 years ago. Originally I was supposed to have my makeup done by a makeup artist for my wedding, but after the trial, and the girl using red eye shadow on me because it would make my ‘eyes pop’ (no thank you), I went out to the MAC store and picked out a few different items to do my makeup myself. One of those items was this mascara. Ever since then I have stuck with it; I find that it stays really well throughout the day, looks more natural and isn’t clumpy.

My go-to for eyeliner is this Revlon Eye Pen. My skin tends to be on the oily side, and so I find that most other eye liners eventually rub off throughout the day …or they are just really hard to put on in the first place. This ‘marker’ type of eyeliner is really easy to get that perfect line, and this stuff stays where its supposed to on all day.

Nails.

My husband was shocked when he saw my nail polish collection ๐Ÿ™‚ Ha-ha, a girl needs every color in the rainbow right?! Recently I’ve been using Joe nail polish, 1) the price is 3 for $10, you can’t go wrong with that! 2) they have basically every color you could ever want, 3) I find it fades off rather than chips, so it lasts a bit longer on my nails.

There you have it, these are some of my favorite products for hair, eyes, and nails!

A Sweet Treat For Your Tuesday: Valentine’s Day Chocolate Chip Cookies

imageWell, it’s Valentine’s week!!!

And the sweet teats, hearts, pink and red are in full swing.

My most favorite treat there is would have to beย  fresh-out-of-the-oven Chocolate Chip Cookies. YUM!

I shared my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe a few months ago… and I’m using it again…

…Why mess with a good thing?!?

So, these are my classic Chocolate Chip Cookies but with a Valentine’s Day twist!!

image There are all sorts of different ‘valentine’ themed candies, sprinkles, chocolates. I just picked a few that appealed to me. Red and pink smarties, chocolate hearts, cookies and cream chocolate hearts, chocolate kisses and some cute heart sprinkles.

image

I whipped up a double batch of my favorite chocolate chip cookies, and added the smarties, sprinkles and chocolate hearts to different cookies. That way the cookies are each a bit different!

image

image

This recipe can’t go wrong, so I did a bit of experimenting and tried some cookies in my individual brownie pan as well!

Pop them in the oven, and do they ever smell good ๐Ÿ™‚ Mmmmmmmmm!

image

The regular cookies turned out great!! And I love that they are all ‘valentine-ish’ but are each bit different with either the smarties, or chocolate hearts.

image

The square cookies turned out great as well! They have a bit more of a crunch on the edge with a soft and chewy middle.

image

It’s easy to take a classic recipe you know will turn out great and add a bit of a twist to make it work for any holiday.

image

These Chocolate Chip Cookies are SO GOOD, but with a bit of extra pink, red, and heart shaped candy, they make the perfect cookies for Valentine’s Day celebrations!

Friday Favorites: Valentine’s Day Decor, Bring on the Pink and Hearts

imageHello Friday!!

With Valentine’s Day getting closer (basically a week away!) I’ve slowly been adding a few more Valentine’s Day decorations to our home.

So… obviously this week’s ‘Friday Favorites’ is once again Valentine’s themed.

I’m trying to find the right balance between some subtly Valentine’s decoration and an explosion of pink, red, and hearts everywhere. It is tough to find the balance when you are a lover of pink (which I am)… but I’m trying to be kind to my husband and tone it down as much as possible ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here’s a peak at a few of my decorations.

A Sweet Treat For Your Tuesday: Nutella Pocket Pies

imageN.U.T.E.L.L.A

Mmmmmmmm ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyone else a big fan of Nutella?!

Well I sure am, especially if its part of a simple and easy-to-bake dessert!!

These Nutella Pocket Pies are made with of 3 ingredients: Nutella, pie crust, and a handful of chocolate chips.

So simple and so good!

Here’s how to make these tasty treats – Cut out the pie dough into whatever shape you’d like: circle, square, heart, anything!

Put a scoop of Nutella on one of the cutouts, wet the edges and top with a second piece of pie crust, and then press down the edges.

Bake at 350 Fahrenheit for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

image

These mini pies are flaky with that Nutella-goodness in the center!

image

And you know what makes them even better ?? A drizzle of chocolate! Melt a few chocolate chips and give the pastries a final topping of drizzled chocolate.

image

YUM!! These are SO good. We may have had them as part of our Saturday morning breakfast/brunch… but its ok because Nutella is a breakfast food right?!?

The perfect treat for any Nutella craving!

Friday Favorites: Organizing, Keeping Active, and a Bit of Valentine’s Day Prep…

imageFriday!! YAY! Here comes the weekend!

I’m looking forward to sleeping in and lazing around!!! I think I’m tired… yesterday as I was driving to work I caught a glimpse of myself in the rear-view mirror and noticed that one eye looked a bit different than the other… I only did my eye makeup on one eye!! I’m not quite sure what happened between doing eye one and eye two… all that to say, YAY for weekends and sleeping in, I am ready!

This week has flown by, as every week does. Here are some of my highlights ๐Ÿ™‚

Getting organized! I picked up this pretty jewelry box to save myself from untangling necklaces and trying find matching earrings as I’m getting ready in the morning. So far its helping. One look and I see a set of earrings, no digging required!

image

This week while doing some tidying, I was reminded of the stability ball we have. So, my husband and I have been doing some at home workouts with the stability ball and boy, are my abs feeling it!! But its fun doing workouts with my husband, and keeping ourselves active during the winter!

image

Valentines candy has been consumed, pre-Valentine’s Day. Bulk barn is THE BEST. And of course, I always have to practice self-control or I would leave with bags and bags of candy. I settled for some sprinkle covered treats, these super cute heart jelly beans, YUM, and some ‘love bug’ chocolates, too cute โค

imageimageimage

I’ve also been looking through my craft/decoration box, here and there since last week, to see what kinds ofย  ‘Valentine-ish’ decorations I have tucked away. I can’t wait to add a bit of pink and a bunch of hearts to our home!! But I think I’ll hold off till February 1.

Next week is the last week of January, 2016 is going by quick!!

Happy Friday!
