Need a treat for your Tuesday?!
How about a donut?
Just like my homemade oreo recipe this recipe also uses cake mix as the base.
I know it’s a bit of a cheat 🙂 but it makes the recipe a whole lot easier!!
These donuts are a bit different than your average donuts since they are baked rather than fried, they kind of “cupcake-donuts’ (because of the cake mix).
And they are SUPER tasty!!!
I used this recipe.
Now, the recipe calls for a “mini-donut machine” but I just used this donut pan and baked mine in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. And they turned out great!!!
So… there was some trial and error with this recipe on my part… to be honest I didn’t fully read through all the instructions before making my first batch. I just saw the picture, did a quick skim through and thought, YUM I’m going to make those.
For my first batch I just make the batter following the instructions on the back of the cake box. DO NOT DO THIS. Go read the recipe, and actually follow it. It makes a huge difference.
Second mistake, I didn’t spray the pan with non-stick spray. Once again DO NOT DO THIS. Seriously. Save yourself the time scrubbing out all the baked-on cake bits and non-stick spray your pan.
So, once I actually read the recipe, followed it and used some non-stick spray my baked donuts turned out lovey 🙂
All in all, another simple and good cake mix recipe 🙂
- Make the batter. (Once again recipe here)
- Pipe the batter into a donut pan. (After spraying with non-stick spray)
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 Minutes.
- Glaze or ice and Enjoy!!
They turned out a bit messy and gooey with the icing… but were they ever good 🙂
My husband and I both had our fair share of these … you have to try every flavor right?!?
Happy baking!
